Jay Sharp I've been a fan of these guy since I randomly caught them at a show in New Paltz that some friends and I decided to check out on a whim. Actually it was probably their name (being a Brooklyn native myself) Their live shows just get better and better (saw them play an incendiary set opening for the Dead Milkmen at the Bowery Ballroom last year) but this record is truly a masterpiece. Brimming with honesty and a brooding self-deprecation and evoking a NYC none of us want to ever forget. Favorite track: Punk Rock Loneliness.

Catastrophe Kids at the art school show They're modern rockers, yeah yeah they know Every crooked glance says they never ever lose contol Just standin around like they don't know Rock & Roll You got style, yeah you're stylin, you got style to use, your daddy got all the money but you got all the issues I'm a new york guy with no license to drive so lets walk to the shows that we can You still look so pretty with your arms all crossed but its a shame you wont dance So I say: Why wont you dance Why wont you dance Why wont you dance Why wont you dance at all? Why wont you dance Why wont you dance Why wont you dance Babybabybabycomeon! So tightly wound but they claim that they're loose It's for fashion not for function so I ask whats the use You were so careful and clean, so precise and pristine I was just looking for a bit of grime Jesus Christ it shouldn't be this hard to a have a real good time So I say... And the boys say... And the girls say...

The Basement 03:56
I wanna leave the whole world behind me I wanna go someplace where no one will find me Sometimes I wanna blast off into outer space, yeah Don't wanna hear that everything is alright Don't wanna go out to the bar tonight I got nothin' to say, I ant got no statement So leave me alone, Don't give me a call Baby I just aint that cool at all I know my placement In the basement I know my placement It's in the basement I need a place where I can run and hide I got no reason to swallow my pride A million people in this town and I just cant face them No one to tell me how to talk or act A place where I can keep my roots intact Sometimes I just wanna go back to the basement So go ahead, go fill your cup Cause once I'm goin down you know I aint comin up I know my placement... I know that it aint healthy to Go back from whence you came When everybody's out there Just trying to make their name And conversation topics make you feel more neurotic and every single fashion Just makes you feel like smashin' 'em I know my placement It's in the basement

Punk Rock Loneliness (free) 05:23
The rain soaks through your converse sneakers Nervous Breakdown in your headphone speakers Down on Bowery and Bleeker again Your mohawk falls limp and sinks into your face You think about her, remember her taste, she's Probably out somewhere, getting fucked Down here on Bleeker and Bowery Where CBGB used to be This place just aint that cool to me anymore Not Joey, not Johnny, not Dee Dee Ramone Will appear as a ghost and drive you home You're out on the streets tonight with your Punk Rock Loneliness And no one in this world could give a shit you made your bed now lie in it Out on the streets tonight with your Punk Rock Loneliness All the things you had to give her First your heart, and then your liver All will drown in the east river tonight Your mohawk falls limp and sinks into your face You think about her and remember her taste You wanna be a Dead Boy I WANNA BE A DEAD BOY!!!!!! Down here on Bleeker and Bowery Where John Varvatos now shall be And there just aint a place for me in this world!!! Not Joey, not Johnny, not Dee Dee Ramone Will appear as a ghost and drive you home You're out on the streets tonight with your Punk Rock Loneliness And no one in this world could give a shit you made your bed now lie in it Out on the streets tonight with your Punk Rock Loneliness

Come To Me 03:05
When you got nothing left in this whole world Want you to come to me When you're down and out and sad-eyed girl Want you to come to me Although darkness may surround you All I want is my arms around you You can come (come on, come to me) You can come to me (come on, come to me) When you've been working on a twelve hour shift Taking shit from everyone around Waiting tables just to make your tip You gotta smile when your heart just frowns But don't you worry baby you'll see me Standing outside trying to catch your eye 'Cause you know that when you get off work I'm gonna kiss you underneath the street light Anything money can do All I got I'm gonna give to you And you can come (come on, come to me) You can come to me (come on, come to me) If you've been crying, staying up late night, thinking Nothing's gonna turn out right Your feet are sore, your head's a mess And your pocketbook is feeling light Don't worry babe, It aint so hard Just one swipe of that metrocard and you can come (come on, come to me) You can come to me...

a tender complex flipped through your rolodex did the cool rot the core? i couldn't tell you anymore legs entwined when they kicked in the door scream your smiles in awe that's pretty much what the heart is for, alright flash your eyelash, gotta go now crush you so fast, you lost control now i think i know what you think that you need i only care until the moment that I hear you plead 'i laugh the loudest when i fit the routine' but once your insides go sore that's pretty much what the heart is for but when you see what came before it's harder to ignore but easier once you're out the door

Cold hands, you wanted it All night, you thought of it Dredged up, and looking for the show Gold dreams and firebombs Loose lips on autopause World War, and now you wanna go Now I'll wait until the night Come on lady let me hold you tight There's some scheming that I have had But it makes me morbid, makes me feel so sad See my love come turning round I miss you, I wanna kiss you Tomorrow night And everyone Jacked off, and on the run Decked out, and looking for a fight Your fingers clutch at me Dead arms drag me out to sea And I just wanna set the world on fire tonight I'm so worn out feeling old Come on lady wont you warm my soul If you know about a stupid man Then you'll know I do the best I can See my love come turning round I miss you, I wanna kiss you Tomorrow night I miss you, I'll kiss you Tomorrow night
